Meet Dr. Amir

Dr. Amir is a local of West LA and has lived here since high school. He received a full scholarship to UCLA as a Regent Scholar, majoring in Psychobiology and graduating with summa cum laude honors distinction. Throughout his undergraduate years, he was a strong advocate for healthcare in his community and helped raise awareness and funds for health-related nonprofit organizations throughout Los Angeles.

Dr. Amir went on to obtain his dental degree (D.D.S.) from the very prestigious UCSF School of Dentistry, where he served as Class President. During his dental school journey, he was a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships from organizations such as the California Dental Association (CDA) and American Association of Dental Education (ADEA). Upon graduation, Dr. Amir was awarded the Frances A. Sooy Chancellor’s Cup for excellence in academics, clinical expertise and merit — the highest honor a UCSF dental student can achieve!

Dr. Amir was then selected as the only student in his class to attend UCSF for orthodontic residency where he completed his orthodontic training in addition to obtaining a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences with a 4.0 GPA. His thesis was focused on the relationship of TMJ disorder to airway and vertical facial growth and its relation to obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Amir is now a Diplomate of American Board of Orthodontics, serves as faculty at UCLA School of Dentistry and is a co-course director of Interdisciplinary Orthodontics. He also supervises orthodontic residents at the UCLA Orthodontic Clinic and stays current on the latest orthodontic research and literature. He has also been serving as an orthodontic member of the Craniofacial and Cleft Lip and Palate team at UCLA Health’s Orthopedic Institute for Children in Los Angeles.
